There is no doubt that we are approaching what I call Point zero.
I'm not a tin hat wearing conspiracy nut and I obviously don't believe in Planet Nibiru and all the 2012 shit bollox.
But as a "freethinking" arguably smartish individual I have to say - everything seems to get out of control and it really looks like we cannot substain life as we know it for much longer.
Now I am skeptical if point zero will happen in our lifetime but on the grander scale it is not that far off I am sure.

On the other hand think about living at the times of WW2 you must have believed this to be the end of the world, and for many individuals it WAS the end of the world or their life.
The main difference between back 60 years and now is of course that we tend to be overloaded and overinformed by the internet and other media outlets.
News travels in lightning speed and if you are not careful and dissect information it may look like we are doomed and way worse of then our relatives.

But again I do agree, we are approaching some change and I mean global change - things just cannot go on like this forever.

A load of crap. The worlds fine our way of living and life style is fucked.

Watch what happens when we reach peak oil production. Everything depends on oil. Prices of everything through the roof. The people in power better have a plan. 

Anyone born after 2000 simply won't drive. It'll solve half the problem there buy us an extra decade. Then there wind power and all that, coal(poor countries love it), Fuel cell tech .Food production, beef industry will dissapear, gmod foods will be the norm. That being said it will mean a massive lowering in expectations for many. However most of the world will just stay where it's at except for north america.

The only real danger with peak oil is severe economic depression, as many industries such as automotive will die overnight. However china, and most poorer countries are more aware than the west that there is a limited amount of oil.
