Heart rate monitors: thumbs up or thumbs down?
« on: October 19, 2010, 01:51:36 PM »
I would like to start doing more cardio. What do people think of heart rate monitors? I'm interested in burning fat, increasing fitness levels and raping and pillaging.

Any thoughts tough guys?

They are great for doing interval training.

Not so sure whether the whole "which zone do you burn the highest % of fat calories" story warrants a heart rate monitor. As a rule of thumb you could say that whenever you do cardio at an intensity where you can just about still hold a conversation without getting out of breath, you're more or less in that zone.
