 :D  DC- I was planning to attend that event, truth. A friend of mine, Tom McGee won the Super Heavy Division that year.

Wiki   Tom Magee was the 1982 World Powerlifting Champion in the superheavyweight division. He placed second in the 1982 World's Strongest Man competition and is regarded as being one of the most versatile strongmen of all time. Magee also won the Le Defi Mark Ten strongman challenge in 1985. His best lifts are an 860 lb. squat, a 573 lb. bench press and 1180 lbs deadlift in a world's strongest man competition in 1983.[1]

He has appeared in several movies and also had a brief career as a professional wrestler

why was the thread name changed?  also, the picture clearly states in the upper right that this is an issue from 1982.  was "muscle bear" an offensive title?  ::)

No no, I saw the change and enjoyed it. I just thought the fact that I was actually aware of the event mentioned, was worth mentioning.
