Democratic Congressman on GOP Gov. Rick Scott: 'They ought to put him against a wall and shoot him.'
[/color]

________________________ ______________________

While Paul Krugman and other liberal commentators continue to exploit this weekend's tragedy by making hay out of supposedly extreme rhetoric on the right, perhaps they would do well to examine some of the rhetoric that has come from the left. On October 23, The Scranton Times reported that Rep. Paul Kanjorski, D-Pa., said this about Florida's new Republican Governor Rick Scott:

"That Scott down there that's running for governor of Florida," Mr. Kanjorski said. "Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him. He stole billions of dollars from the United States government and he's running for governor of Florida. He's a millionaire and a billionaire. He's no hero. He's a damn crook. It's just we don't prosecute big crooks."

Kanjorski did not win reelection in November. Perhaps the former Congressman was not sincere when he suggested Scott be shot, nonetheless this remark is a far more literal and explict call to violence than the relatively benign (and bipartisan) matter of putting than targets on a map. Yet, Kanjorski's remarks were virtually ignored at the time. One wonders what the reaction would have been if a Republican congressman had called for a Democrat to be put against a wall and shot. I very much doubt it would have been dismissed by Democrats and the national media.

Straw - were you on the OJ Jury?

If I tell someone anonymously that I overheard you say something is that considered a quote from you?

I would think if someone posted a list of quotes on here that by their own personal standards they would want to know they are accurate and not just a bunch of bullshit

Somebody wrote that "we're in panic mode"...no I think its the fact that as a Conservative...I'[m done with the " high road" bullshit. You Dems use everything as political hay..the tea partiers scared you all because they're not going to let you off the hook. Palin scares you because she attacks the stupidity and anti-Americanism of the extreme Left...which appears to control the Dem party. I'll say it first....fuck you....the Left will not be let off for trying to tie this to Palin or Vets or immigration reform or Fox News or Talk radio. Obama and his politics have stirred the pot waaaay to much now.

when you hear that quote in context is pretty benign though I think Obama did say later it was a poor choice of to use the word enemy

btw - the quote in the video is also not on the list (don't you check this stuff before you post)

Here's the quote from the list.  You haven't shown a source for this so why are you sourcing quotes that aren't even on the list?

"Republicans are our enemies"--Obama

Tina Brown: GOP Are "Suicide Bombers" In Debt Ceiling Negotiations
(source and story background at The Daily Caller)

BUCHANAN: They’re accommodating him on the spending cuts. They’re going to go – I’m sure Obama has got in there spending cuts that Republicans like – maybe in defense, maybe in things like that. They’ll go along with spending cuts, compromise on that. But they say this is the wrong way to go. We don’t believe in it. We’ve committed against it. We can’t do it. Mr. President, you’re asking us to break our word and do something we think is not going to work and we’re not going to do it, sir.

BROWN: I think frankly the president would have no credibility if he did not demand some –

BUCHANAN: He’s going to demand it, but he’s not going to get it.

BRZEZINSKI: How is that — so I think the, what was the answer to my question that who the hostage take is, Willie [Geist]?

GEIST: Sounds like Pat’s boys. Pat’s boys are holding the hostage.

BROWN: I think they’re the suicide bombers in all of this.

BRZEZINSKI: Oh my.

BUCHANAN: I think they’re standing on principle. They’re doing what they believe is right.

BARNICLE: They are just not serious people on both sides.
