Why "The Hitman" has been off WWE TV:
« on: November 27, 2010, 12:51:17 PM »
PWInsider.com is reporting that the reason Bret Hart is not being used on WWE TV right now is because his contract with the company has actually expired, and rather than offer him an extension, they are using him on a per-appearance basis when they want him to appear on house show events.

Another reason he's not on TV is because WWE has made the decision not to use him for low-level appearances and/or cameos.
When Bret does appear on TV, it will be when WWE feels they have something "major" for him.
He has, however, appeared in such markets as Calgary and Europe as he still has a very large following there and has more of a place at those events.

It's being said that the relationship between Hart and WWE remains very good.

I 'm glad he's off TV. He is boring, but manages to get cheap pop off kids who weren't even alive when he was any good. The worst part about his last run with the company was the way they would pretend he would get in the ring for a match, only to have it called off at the last second. I don't know. Just my opinion.

x2.  Im a huge hitman fan, but as usually the WWE messes up another opportunity to do something great.  A wasted comeback for Bret. imo

Just a few days ago, the UK Sun ran a brief, but fairly interesting interview with Bret.

Highlights include:
Thoughts on Hogan & Bischoff (surprise!!),
The threat TNA poses to McMahon,
Why McMahon & his product are still superior,
The possibility of him going to TNA,
The WCW mistakes TNA is repeating & why...

I've said this before, I'm glad that he finally is at peace with what happened in Montreal and seems to be happy. I hope they bring him back in the future, and I didn't have a problem with his last run. His WM match was what it was, Vince finally got what was coming to him, Bret got his last moment in the sun, and it served it's purpose...buried Montreal once and for all.

I know we've discussed this at least several times on this board, but it's been a while, and I doubt this will ever turn into a Hulkster-ND/Dorian-Ronnie thread...

Bret always prided himself on being an old-school guy with old-school values & ethics.
He was wrong to not pass the torch on his way out.
Andre did it for Hogan.
Flair did it 18 (or whatever) times for other people over his career.

Bret didn't want to lose to HBK...he didn't want to lose in Canada...
Hey Bret, NOBODY LIKES LOSING; even in make-believe fighting.

At the same time, the old man was wrong to break their agreement and double-cross Bret like that.
The Hitman busted his ass for 14 years working for Vince.

However...no matter how you look at it...
In the end, VKM would not have had to do what he did had Bret done what he should have in the first place.

My opinion.

Say what you want you want about SS. Bret didn't get screwed. Respect this. Respect that. The Harts beleived they were above VKM. No matter how many times he swears up and down. BISCHOFF AND BRET WERE GONNA DISGRACE THE FEDERATION TITLE! New New New World Order. For Life. Thank you Bret for your years of entertainment. Bottom line you got put back into reality. The Excellence of Execuction? Bret, the Hart Family, Bischoff, WCW, every Federation sell out, and the entire country of Canada got spanked that night! Bret screwed Bret.

Haha, okay there small fry.  The only people in Canada that got 'spanked' b/c of wrestling are nerds like you.

haha oh man, I knew this would turn into a screwjob thread. I really doubt he would have brought the belt to WCW, that being said, his boss told him to do something, so he should have done it. On the other hand, Shawn by his own admission made Bret's life hell..I wouldn't want to lose to the prick either.

I noticed that no one is mentioning how Michaels also refused to lose to Hart at the next WM after he put HBK over at the previous WM.

Either way, VInce came clean and admitted he was wrong on that decision in 1997.

Beefcake and Hacksaw worked a show in my area last year. The crowd was at least three times the size as normal show. I caught only the tail end of Beefcake's match the people loved him.

Oh, i know, but man it's time to keep your clothes on and retire.

Funny story about Valentine.  I went to a show back in old mid-atlantic days with my dad in a small hs gym near where i grew up.  Valentine was the US Champ and a WAY over heel at that time.  We ended up arriving at the same time Valentine did and parked next to him.....haha, how times have changed.  After the show when we came back out one of his tires was flat, most likely on purpose.  My dad offered to help him and I just stood there with my mouth hanging open.  Valentine was very polite, but turned down the offer....

lmao! That's a great story! Can you imagine had he let your dad change his tires? I would have snapped pics left, right & center!

You are right, he does need to retire. Looks very beat up.

^^ AWESOME!!!
To me, that’s the definition of class.
"The Hammer" stayed in character just enough to uphold kayfabe, but without acting like an asshole and overdoing it.

I can only imagine being a young kid, not yet “smart,” and having my Dad (who was smart) doing what your Dad did: offering to help a guy/"monster heel" change a tire.

Kind of makes me wonder if Valentine refused the help just to kayfabe you, and I mean that in a good way - similar to how mall Santa‘s kayfabe kids who ask them questions about the North Pole, etc.

Valentine has been around for quite some time now. Since the mid seventies I believe. His dad was in the plane that crashed back in 1975 with Flair, Dave Crockett and a couple of others. Unbelievable story.

Johnny Valentine was/is a legend, and deservedly so.
We used to have a famous quote of his hung on the wall in our training dump quarters.
It read something like:

"I can't make'em believe that wrestling is real...
But, I can sure make'em believe that I AM!"

haha, I remember when we left I asked my dad why he offered to help him and my dad who was kayfabe all the way said, "Son, sometimes bad people need help too...."    MAN do I miss those days !!!!!!

I do think Valentine probably did turn down the help to stay kayfabe.  It was about 11pm, dark parking lot, he had just been chopped by Wahoo for 30 minutes straight and most likely facing a 1 to 3 hour drive......now that is what wrestling was built on right there....
