Giuliani the Presidential Wild Card of 2012
Wednesday, 22 Dec 2010

Former Republican New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani didn’t fare too well in his 2008 campaign for the GOP presidential nomination. But don’t count him out for 2012, even though he has given no signals that he will run, The Hill says.

“As a 2012 dark horse, he could do surprisingly well,” the news service states. “It’s not because Giuliani has shifted; it’s because the Republican Party has. The 2010 election was less about social conservatism than it was fiscal conservatism, and that aligns with Giuliani’s socially moderate and fiscally conservative ideology.”

Moreover, Giuliani’s acerbic style won’t stand out as a negative in a party that has seen aggressive figures such as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie take center stage in a positive manner.

He started sky high.  Everywhere he visited, his numbers dropped.

The 911 legend of Rudy painted by Time magazine just faded more and more as he and Mitt screamed "no, YOU are the bigger lib!" at one another for months.

He should have just not talked.  He'd be president today.
