Man in Milwaukee fined $500 for using profanity in conversation

I'm one who thinks people cuss all the time, especially in public, are often just not very bright, or lazy, or both, but this is ridiculous.  Undercover cop?  I'd be pretty upset if my tax dollars were being wasted on this.

Alert George Carlin — you can't say them on the bus, either
Man in Milwaukee fined $500 for using profanity in conversation

updated 12/27/2010

MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee man thinks it's pretty darn ridiculous that he got fined $500 for swearing on a county bus.

Terry Duncan tells WISN-TV that he considers it un-American to get slapped with a $500 disorderly conduct fine for saying two words. The words in question started with the letters "f" and "s." After Duncan uttered them last Tuesday, an undercover deputy ordered him off the vehicle and handed him the ticket.

Duncan says he's new to Milwaukee, didn't know about the law and pointed out it's not posted anywhere in the bus. He says he simply cursed during a conversation and that the words weren't directed at a specific person. He says he'll fight the ticket in court.

A spokeswoman for Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke says he's warned the public about his zero-tolerance approach to disorderly conduct on buses. She says he considers it a quality-of-life issue.

remember this:

Kathryn Fridge, 29, was arrested after uttering The Mother of All Expletives while shopping for batteries at Wal-Mart (WMT) to prepare for a hurricane forecast to slam the region.

The Galveston County Daily News reports that the woman told her 2-year-old daughter, “They don’t have any f- - - - - - more.”

I'm both.

It's why I curse all the fucking time.

You shouldn't believe everything you read... but sure... if it makes you feel better for not cursing... Go for it.

And where did I say I believe everything I read?  This thread isn't about me.  Or you.
