MMA is getting too played out. There is a PPV every fucking week now. There is no mystic to it like there used to be. Commercialization is killing it.
That's their (UFC) business model actually (which isn't bad considering the drunk, we only care about knockouts crowd that follows the sport which are lead by simple minded, tap out shirt wearing drunks).
Basically following the WWE format without the pyro and entrances on the big screen. Get your fan base and cater to them basically.
I can tell you this for a fact..none of the guys at my gym even watch ppv's, go to sports bars to watch these fights or even care. Their about their own and hear about who won this or that through conversations in their circle.
If fans stop watching ppv's then business model will change. Same with any other corp in america. If people don't buy, that company will change it's business model/approach to reach the public.
