That's a damn good 400 man ;) Remember the 400 is considered the man's race ;D Did you also run cross-country? Our coach was a good coach, but I think our half mile repeat day was a bit much, he had us run 10 800 timed intervals with the goal of improving our times each and every week.

Wow ten 800s would suck man. We did a lot of repeat 400 tried to get them below 70 seconds. Then we did distance running once or twice a week. The coach I had my senoir year kind of let me go on my own and train bymyself. When doing interval training you really need someone there yelling at you to go faster you need that push. I played football and ran indoor track also.

When I was really young my dad had me running 3-5 miles at least 4 times a week. I was always in way better shape than everyone around me because of him.

Yeah, the 400 is an all out sprint, at least with the 800 you can pace yourself a bit.

Ran it once in HS. Us football guys ran with track team. I sub one time. Had no respect for anything beyond 200m b/c I never had to run it. After that one race, my body shut down completely at finish line. All I remember was turning past 200 meters on that turn and I was right there with pack hauling a$$ then last 200 was body folding like a tent, thighs burning inside, back tightening, no oxygen...just falling apart. LOL

I have mad respect for the 400m to this day. My little brother used to kill it in HS, not sure where he got that stamina. My mother was a sprinter through college and she told me she never ran the 4.

A couple of times I came out way to fast had a nice lead on everyone. Last hundred meters my legs would freeze up sometimes. You got to pump your arms as hard as you can that can help to move your legs. Man I had a gas tank back then.

wow that awesome I never got below 1:59. I think If I had some better coaching I would of gone a lot lower. Are coaches didn't help us at all. I ran a pretty good open 400 50 seconds.

I call bs..... unless on some good drugs.
