Majorly weak card tonight
« on: February 26, 2011, 08:04:49 PM »
Penn vs. Fitch?  ::)
Bisping vs Rivera?  ::)

Why can the UFC only put on 3 good cards per year AT BEST?
I dont like twinks.

They need to fire Fitch already.  Boringest fighter ever.

The UFC owns your brain....You've been hiding since your hero got humiliated for the second time in a row by a 5-1 underdog and you start a thread just to bash the UFC?

I will admit, this card didn't have the most compelling match-ups, and the judging was ludicrous, but that has nothing to do with the UFC.

All in all, I am happy with the UFC's product.

I also can't wait for Diaz to fight Daley in Strikeforce.

Boringer than Jake Shields?

Maybe not.  It's just that I've seen more Fitch fights than Shields.

I didn't watch it live, didn't fancy getting up at 3am for this one so i recorded it. I hit fast forward through most of the broadcast, stopping to catch the decisions then watched all of the main two fights.

Not disagreeing with you, but just curious what judging decisions did you not agree with mate?

I rewatched the Fitch/Penn fight and I think the judging was fair....possibly BJ won. Originally, I thought BJ should have lost, but now I see it otherwise.

The Nick Ring fight was nowhere near a unanimous victory.  I don't see how anyone could say Ring won that fight, let alone a UNANIMOUS.

Did you agree with the judging in the Nick Ring victory?

Yes, I was not convinced by Fitch's "activity."   Fitch "decisions" people because his strikes lack power.  BJ was gassed, and Fitch still could not take advantage.

I can see that.

I had BJ etch out a very slim 10 - 9 for the first 2 rounds and Fitch a 10 - 8 for the 3rd so i believe the judging was absolutely spot on. But that just my opinion as others will see it very differently. Fitch reminds me of a younger Matt Linland in almost everything he does, but dare i say slightly better?

Bisping's knee was uncalled for but probably expected, and i could read his excuse for it as soon as he did it. Still im delighted he won as ive followed him for a few years now and think he could still go further in the division.

All in all a surprisingly good card in light of the lack of depth on offer relating to the top talent available. Some good fights and some strange things - the cartwheel kick?! I would be offended to lose to someone who shaved an arrow in his chest hair  :)
