It still would have been held by the Republicans had a Tea Party candidate was not on the ballot. He took 9 percent of the vote which likely came from the Republican base. Otherwise she would have had 52%.

Obama is suddenly nice to the British royalty, when he couldn't care less about them earlier. It's called politics and campaigning for votes.

The wedding was a private ceremony, not a state event. No president of any country was invited as they chose not to invite any politicians, only ambassadors were given invitations as they were not politicans. Not to say that if Obama decided to show up, he would have been more than welcome.
