How universal is the 'Munchies' after consuming mary jane?

It's been a while for me but usually when I smoked, I got the munchies. I was wondering what caused it and how universal it is in people who smoke weed.

If the weed is really strong, it makes me not hungry.  Somewhat acts as a stimulant.
