Bachmann Files Papers to Enter White House Race

MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE | Mon Jun 13, 2011 8:35pm

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (Reuters) - Representative Michelle Bachmann said on Monday she has filed the paperwork to formally enter the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

Bachmann announced the move during the first major debate of Republican presidential contenders, which was held in New Hampshire, which holds an important early contest on the road to the nomination.

"I filed today my paperwork to seek the presidency of the United States," she said in the early going of the encounter with six other presidential contenders.

Palin would get destroyed by Obama.  She would get flustered, she would collapse, and Obama would win based upon her sheer appearance of incompetence.

Bachmann should have Obama worried.  She could beat him, and beat him handily.  She looked great, she was very composed, and she has tea party credibility which would translate well to the mainstream.

She appeals to parents - 5 of her own kids and foster parent to 23 kids?

She'll appeal to those ignorant ass MILF voters.

She'll appeal to anyone with a sense of financial responsibility.

She doesn't have a history of flipflops like Kerry, Romney, Palin, etc.

She could win, dude.

I know.   And she takes it to the far left on their own turf and shoves their bs down their throats.

I beg to differ. Palin would tear him apart. We've all seen Obama trip over his own tongue or look like a paralyzed sheep, when someone puts it to him (i.e Netenyahu). There's a reason the goofies in the mainstream media broke their necks, trying to surf through her e-mails, why they're following her bus all around the country.

They are FRIGHTENED of Palin. If she enters, she changes the game. And without McCain's handlers shackling her, she can go upside Obama's head 100 miles an hour and undress him in front of the entire country.

Indeed! She is more politically season than Palin is. I like her, but she doesn't quite have the punch that Sarah does. I want someone who can deflect the mainstream media's kneepadding and get medieval on Obama and his boneheaded policies.

Maybe we can merge the two. Bachmann's experience and knowledge with Palin's spunk and fire (and experience as mayor and governor).

i would campaign for bachmann.  I would campaign against Palin.  And their 2010 positions aren't that much different.

There are a lot of people out there who will feel the same way.  bachmann attacks with competence.  Palin attacks with a false sense of knowing what the hell she's talking about.

She delivered that confused paul revere story with a sense of bewilderment and stoned eyes... If she's not on meds, then she needs to be lol...

Can we take bets on the over/under on the number of days until conservative 240 turns on his new crush?

not gonna happen, champ.

I admit she has some flaws, made some little mistakes on some historical statements.

But she is experienced, competent, has had CONSISTENT positions on the conservative side.  She will make a great president.  I'll campaign for her, sure.

Palin would tear Obama apart?  This same hillbilly that got ripped to shreds by Katie, the featherweight interviewer in the history of things that have ever given an interview?

I think not.   Palin couldn't fit enough talking points on her hand to address an assembly of deaf voters.  Let alone an actual live televised debate.

great point.

Tough "gotcha questions" like "What have you learned here in New Hampshire" cause her to get all pissed off.

It would be a campaign of victimhood - Palin answering only to FOX news, complaining at every stop about being a victim.

Sorry, but people don't elect whiny victims.  They don't.  They pity them, they like them, they admire them, but if she can't outwit katie Couric or random guy asking about her trip to new hampshire, she's totally fuct when G20 arguments heat up.

Obama sucks at answering tough questions.  Any surprise he rarely takes questions from the media?  Remember the last time someone asked him some questions he didn't like?

He's also very average in debates, and cannot express himself very well without a teleprompter.  I'd say the person who writes a few words on her hand has a slight advantage over the man who needs to read a script.

Bret Baier asked Obama the simplest of questions, and he stammered like a drunken Porky Pig with marbles in his mouth. Palin would dismember him.

Palin works for Fox News; you'd expect her to answer only to them.

All she has to do is beat Obama over the head, with the economy and his failed policies and he's toast. She couldn't kill Obama any easier, if he had antlers on his head.

Game On:Michelle Bachmann Is For Real
Ward World ^ | 06/14/2011 | Kevin A Ward

It is always quite amusing to hear the pundit class talk about the respective electability of the G.O.P. candidates for President. Sarah Palin is routinely ridiculed by the punditocracy largely because she's not part of the club. Last evening's debate was an intriguing forum with telling results. All of the candidates look good and no one made a fatal mistake. Here is my assessment of the candidates.

Herman Cain started strong and speaks forcefully on the economic issues, however he loses his step on matters outside his greatest strength. He lacked specifics for all his passion and that is something he is going to be forced to provide. He didn't lose support, but he didn't move the ball forward.

Newt Gingrich proved to be frustrating again. Had his campaign not recently imploded I suspect he would be included in the conversation than he is at present. Few people in public life demonstrate the capacity to strategically assess all the issues in a clear manner, but foot in mouth disease has permanently harmed him.

Ron Paul was Ron Paul, but he looked tired.

Rick Santorum is bright, articulate and passionate in his beliefs, but last night proved that he can project coldness in the midst of passion.

The loser of the debate was Tim Pawlenty. He had a good night, but he is remembered for not engaging Romney on "Obamneycare". In a year where Republican voters want to take the fight to Obama, Tim Pawlenty showed polite timidity.

The biggest loser of the evening was Jon Huntsman Jr. Why? Because he was invited to the debate, he declined and then promptly announced he was running today. How do you think that looks to New Hampshire voters? All the more clueless given reports that he will forgo an effort in Iowa.

Mitt Romney won the debate because he didn't lose. He was focused on the economy,he looked presidential and more importantly he did not appear to be the phony that emanated from him four years ago. He was in command of himself, confident and assertive. I'm not a Romney fan for many reasons, but he at least allayed some fears to a degree. Wait and see. If he is the nominee I want to see how he takes a punch first. If you get into the ring with Obama you had better not have a glass jaw.

The most significant result from last night's debate is the performance of Michelle Bachmann. She has been subject to ridicule and marginalized as a fringe or niche candidate. Not anymore. She was focused. She prefaced each response with her credentials justifying her response to questions. More importantly, she was credible.

When asked about Obamacare she reminded everyone she was the first to file for its repeal. When asked about Libya she referenced her service on the House Select Committee on Intelligence giving her just criticism all the more weight.

Michelle Bachmann did something I found quite profound and has to my knowledge gone unstated anywhere. Pro Life candidates are often criticized by pro choicers as being unconcerned about a child after its born. Michelle Bachmann when asked about abortion reasserted his pro life position, but prefaced it by informing people of her five children and twenty three foster children. Many took this as just personal fluff, but the truth is how can anyone accuse Michelle Bachmann of being a hypocrite on abortion when she's taken in 23 foster children? How do you criticize one who has sheltered children from the storm?

Michelle Bachmann is for real folks and I look forward to the campaign with renewed vigor.

If she runs - she will be required to quit her job with them.  Santorum and Newt were both given the boot from FOX.  So hopefully - particularly with the emergence of bachmann - palin will STFU and not run.

That remains to be seen. But, she's the game-changer. Everyone, left and right, are looking to see if she runs or not, hence you have all those silly media folks following her bus and diving through her e-mails.
