I hope none of you are foolish enough to believe that conditioning alone had something to do with that win.

Conditioning plays a HUGE part in recovery time from getting hurt.

Incredible comback. Pat barry can never get a damn break lol.

Dan stepping on Pat's foot preventing Pat from throwing the Left that would have finished the fight and instead having pat throw the right since he couldn't pivot!  ;D

I like Kongo.  I root for him unless he is up against my boy Mir, and we all know how that fight turned out  ;D

Diagree with JNN 100%. His being able to recover was a direct result of his conditioning, that and never giving up. When I trained Brad Blackburn for his fight with Amir Sadollah, Brad took a beating in the third round and everyone thought he was done, but he recovered but quick and lost by decision instead of a KO. Would you rather lost by KO or decision?

with all due respect coach but of course you will disagree with me...you are one of his coaches

in my eyes, Kongo's gas tank has always been in question.  I will give your guy credit on making the comeback but (and I don't want to pile on to Dan Mirgliotta) that match should have been stopped

Pat imo wins 9/10 times against Kongo.

Hopefully he comes back stronger again and doesn't let this get to him.

??? It couldnt get more obvious that It shouldnt have been stopped.
Great job from dan.

First you say conditioning didn't matter in the fight and now this...
Stopping the fight too early and taking away all the hard work someones put into a fight is the worst thing that could happen.

JNN, it's not because I'm one of his coaches, it's just a physiological fact. I'm straight forward with things like this. Kongo has never trained (strength trained) like this in his career but myself and his coaches from Wolfslair convinced him he needed to and that would mean changing his training ways. Kongo was training at a 24hr fitness and using machines, he was more into the he looked instead of training more for what I call 'power function'. He has so many injuries that needed to be addressed by the time of the fight, we weren't sure what was going to happen. As far as his conditioning, he did everything old school....like a boxer with just road work and his sparring sessions. I immediately changed that and the last 4 weeks went to interval work. If he wanted to go jogging just because he enjoys it, that was fine but I wouldn't count it as part of his training. It was the interval work that I feel helped in his recovery along with having the most intense training camp I think he's had. We also monitored his V02 and his heart rate recovery.

Make it hard and intense in the gym to make it easier in a ring or field.

Johnny, it's not his conditioning I would worry about, its his wet paper chin that gets him in trouble.  All the Muscles, and power in the world is not going to help if your legs crumple after every decent shot you take.

now thats was damn lucky... huge comeback ... good for him. congrats
No sir.. I am not a Kongo fan... But these guys instinct is to swing.....So,he swang and Patrick caught it.. Thing is,if Patrick would have shown a LITTLE PATIENCE AND STEPPED BACK AFTER THE 1ST SHOT.....he would have been in a better position .. But he wanted to show people the "new" him, more aggressive Patrick, and took a cage nap...!? Damn shame..I liked the "OLD" Patrick better.. :-\

Coach you are simply amazing trainer, you need to be announced with fighter or something so you get recognition.
