doesn't he mention that Clinton added a trillion to the debt himself (the least of any of either of the Bush's or Clinton) but he also balanced the budget, created a surplus and left office with the US on track to pay off all the debt by 2010
my issue with Repubs is that they had no problem with expanding the national debt or budget deficits during the 8 years of the Bush Administration and now all of a sudent they ar fiscal hawks
I'm with you on that point, but I think it's indicative of the duplicitous nature of
both parties that do this type of crap when it's politically expedient. I certainly will not argue that point.
And yes, he mentioned the 1 trillion dollar figure for Clinton, but no, it wasn't Clinton that slid into office, took out a pocket calculator and balanced the budget. Remember the composition of Congress and the political climate at the time. Budget doesn't get balanced (again in my opinion, but I believe it to be true) without Republicans in the House and Senate composed as they were during his Presidency. He was also aided by a great many things as well concerning global politics, end of the Cold War, a tech revolution that brought efficiency gains etc.
Just crucifying one party or the other for problems is silly. Thomas Hartmann isn't helping expand the narrative or adding anything meaningful he is just participating in the same old one-sided bullshit....which interestingly enough is what many on this board take shots at various cable news stations for doing.
