What is my fair share, what is your fair share
« on: August 11, 2011, 12:22:04 PM »
We often hear the term (people need to pay their fair share).  I do agree.  And about half of the people do. But what are the people who live off government assistance fair share? What are they contributing either in the work force or monetary wise.  I mean more people are jumping on this band wagon of people paying more. So what are the government assisted people going to do when it comes to their fair share.  Unless there are plans on making these folks sacrifice too the government needs to stop calling it ( EVERYONES FAIR SHARE)

Its political horse shit, aka class warfare. But a good question, what exactly are the people living off government assistance contributing? I just find it strange that people seem to think they are entitled to something, just by virtue of luck of the draw and being born in the United States. Last time I checked the only things anyone is entitled to is Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Catching it is up to you.

Yes because that is a necessity. You know there are plenty of things that need to be done in this country, I don't think its to much to ask a fair days work for a government assistance check.

I dont mind paying more taxes, but not when I look around and see less people making any effort to work because they know they are going to keep getting those checks for doing absolutly nothing. Government assistance does not help anyone, it ruins work ethic and promotes laziness.

Flat tax 10% is fair.  Our current tax system penalizes success and rewards laziness.

Much easier to buy votes with the current system

I would support a flat tax,  but I bet the current recipients of government assistance in this country would riot worse than in Europe when the government cut into their free money

I doubt you could run our military on that.

For those who dont pay any taxes, if you raised thier taxes by just 1 percentage point, I believe you would get about $70 billion in revenue, and you would do no damage to the economy.

Well then stop giving the handouts away,  how much is spent in entitlement spending? I believe that would make a huge dent. Like a dent almost half the size.
