Shit in the Tampa area craigslist you'd be hard pressed to find a 1,000 car that is even running and fully operational, so forget about 500. A few years back was a different story though, 500 took you much further circa 01 to 07ish.

you don't look on craigslist...you got to look at police auctions, people's driveways, and repoed cars..as well as private sellers  in the pennysavers.

Nothing to great but if you went to a auction you might have better luck.

That was just the most recognizable example, but the popo auctions are not what they used to be here either and a lot of people are selling shit as gold in their drive ways here in FL.. though looking hard enough there are still a few hidden deals out here.

Bought mine for 500 € - Mitsubishi Lancer which was top. But such deals are a dying breed... 2000€ for an ok car is more likely.

It's a recession everyone is looking for deals and know one is buying new. Prices these days reflect what a cars worth more than ever before, just think man you got teh internetz, loads of unemployed's, and a whole lot of people who are too scared to buy new.

Yep, don't forget the junkyards and cars with salvage titles.  A lot of insurance companies will salvage out a perfectly good car if its cheaper to do so.  My second car was a 1981 Volvo Sedan from the junkyard for $600 dollars, had the front window replaced for a hundred, cleaned out the interior, and I drove it around for about 3 years.  Car was still running great when I donated it to the Goodwill.

What's the blue book for a 24-year-old car that's busted up?   ;D

Roughly $500... It was driven until 2009, and has very low miles for it's age, about 170k
well taken care of, very good paint (some scratches).

Sounds like someone I used to date, until I looked at the service history.

Ha, most of that mileage was spent driving roughly 8 miles to work and back. Serviced was done at home (oil change, filters, etc), new alternator, runs great...

It was my mom's car. My folks keep cars for a while, and 99% of the leather interior looks very good.
I wanted to convince my dad to "open up" that 5.0, put dual exhausts on it, and a Vortech SC on it.
But, he wants 500 bones for it.
