Its not Hypochondria, its a very common thing that happens with men when they reach a certain age, mostly around the 30 -35 -40.
Where before pretty much all men live their life not thinking about tomorrow when you hit a certain age you are mostly have seen some stuff that makes you go sit down and go hmmm.
Which in response has an impact on yourself feeling death is always around the corner.
notice how when you get 30 cancer is always around the corner, either by a friend having it your grand dad dying from it or in the news etc etc.

You just get more aware of your own mortality.

There is probably some racial memory tied into this as well, with 30 you have passed your most productive years as somebody who can father children, which means your body probably gets into survival mode,

I remember when my uncle took me to the Shock Trauma unit for a tour...I was 22, I saw a one legged dude on a stand and he was getting his asshole cleaned out...I swear, you could drop a grapefruit down that gaping ass hole...He had colon cancer,  I swear I stopped eating bacon for 3 months.

Yeah, that fits for all getbiggers, as 99.9999% have melted down so hard they were literally on the verge of a stroke or heart attack to happen, guess they all are only waiting to die of kidney failure or borderline syndrom.

Is the internet responsible for this? Or are people on this site rather clueless when it comes to health issues?

Good observations Mr. Kong.  (Tell Diddy I say hi.)

I'd say both are responsible for what you see.  The Internet literally overloads simple-minded folk (note I didn't say stupid; I mean simple as in they're not critical thinkers.  Call it an attempted euphemism for ignorance :) ).  They don't know how to sort information logically, so they become group-thinkers and go with what the majority say.

At the same time, yeah -- there are oodles of clueless types at most any website, this one included.  And it seems all bets are off when it comes to anything health-related, irrespective of the audience.  I know medical professionals who think a 10 mL bottle of test would "surely give me a stroke."  And I lost count of supposedly educated folk I know who bought into that turd Spurlock's Super Size Me bullshit.  (Of course you had high BP and got fatter, dumb shit.  You ate tons of salty foods and ate too fucking much every day!)

I never really thought about my health that seriously before I went to Afghanistan. I mean I ate well enough to be thin and hold muscle, but that was about it. I just figured I would never get seriously ill and never even gave it much thought.

Since I've gotten back I've become at least a borderline hypochondriac. I feel like my survival is in jeopardy a lot now. I've been in and out of VA clinics quite a bit this year, with unexplainable pains - chest (near heart) and in kidneys. I hadn't gone to the hospital in years and years before that. They can never find anything wrong in tests and I'm pretty sure they are convinced I have some form of PTSD. I always just deny because you either end up in a psyche ward or on a bunch of crazy ass drugs, and I'm not going for any of that shit. Then again, they think anybody that deployed has it.

Not really showing any other signs of PTSD, other than hypochondria, if it's even fair to call it that or if it is even a sign. It did lead me to eat better and quit smoking, so maybe it's even a good thing long term.

As you get older, I'm 35 now, I think you start to think about catastrophic health problems more seriously naturally. My dad had major heart surgery last year, which scared the shit out of me - quintuple bypass. I'm not sure of the correct level of fear to have, or if there is one, but it ain't the same game as ten or even three years ago.

I'm 43, veteran of Croatia/Bosnia 2 deployments... took me until June 2000 to quit smoking, I completely quit drinking the minute I left the service (wasn't going to go through having to wean myself off on PTSD!!!).  Take a very strong high-allicin GARLIC capsule every day like me, I got tested and my Doc says my blood test (Triglycerides/Cholesterol) is perfect!

Seems like there are a lot of hypochondriacs on getbig....

A few months ago when disturbia got into depth about his personality disorder, we had tons of threads popping up with people thinking that they might have one as well, are depressed or somehow else mental....

Now we have Luke Wood die from kidney failure and people are afraid to take creatine, I don't want to know how many here are fearfully watching their piss each time if there is foam and how many already have seen a doc because of some bubbles in the shitter.

Is the internet responsible for this? Or are people on this site rather clueless when it comes to health issues?
Looking on the internet/doing research on basically any kind of illness/seeing commercials about illness' and convincing yourself that you have that illness is called CYBERCHONDRIA, same thing as HYPOCHONDRIA. People who truly have HYPOCHONDRIA are people who go to the HOSPITAL, EVERY DAY or every other day, ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED that they have some kind of disease. Hypochondria is a SOMATOFORM Disorder. I myself have never been diagnosed with it, BUT......i believe i have a mild form of it. I was diagnosed Body Dysmorphia which is a SOMATOFORM DISORDER. I wonder if BDD caused the hypochondria or vice versa. Back when i was in my teens, i remember i was convinced that i had some kind of disease that was making me skinny, so i started bodybuilding, but im not sure if its hyprochondria or Muscle Dysmorphia.

Good post. Basically took the words out of my mouth.

I was gonna keep it simple and say "just you kids wait" or; "I could tell you some stories of our *new* daily realities.

Take advantage of your youth, but don't abuse it. I know the kids won't listen. We all have to learn the "hard way" ~ but if any of you kids (20-30) want to learn something, learn this: WHAT YOU DO TODAY TO YOUR BODIES YOU WILL PAY FOR TOMORROW.

Now, you may not literally pay tomorrow (as in the next day) ~ but you will pay back every mistake you make, or every bad decision... ain't nothin' free in this world. You live on physical strength today. You think you are immortal. You don't even hesitate to take on the world....

But there will come a day when that all changes. Physical strength wanes, and mental fortitude.. well, it just gets tired. Stress, over a long period of time is in essence a sense of "attrition"

Just beware, and make good decisions. It ain't about today, it's about tomorrow. Stay strong.
