Tempurpedic mattresses
« on: September 20, 2011, 01:12:36 PM »

any of you studs own one of these?

i have a sealy independant pocket coil etc etc i bought 4 years ago that now has a huge swale in it where i sleep. the coils have compressed and i need to replace it as its causing me some minor dicomfort now.

just wondering how the tempurpedic stands up to heavier bodies- if the foam breaks down after a while or if its pretty sturdy.

I bought into the whole "you got to spend big $$) for mattress's crap and not cheap out. The expensive ones come with 20 and 25 year warranties - this is a scam as they are pro-rated warranties thus useless, but the manufacture wants you to think their products are that good with the big warrenty claim.
I have spent over 2K on mattresses and they all end up the same. I am now using a cheap $199 one from Ikea - and so far its better than the expensive ones, plus it does have a 10 year warranty as well.

thanks for the reply.

yeah i spent over 2k for this sealy. its shite. i called them- they came and looked at it. took pics. measured the dpeth of the swale etc. said it didnt meet the criteria to be replaced. told me to rotate it. lol. fucking dorks. so now im looking into other options.

i found a costco memory foam (king) for $650

if i can get 3-4 years out of it and then replace it im still ahead of the game esp if im going to have to replace a normal bed every 4-5 years anyway.

Ikea also has memory foam as well for around $500 I think, both Costco/Ikea are good in regards to returning to.
Good luck...

What kind of moron needs to replace a bed every 3-5 years?  Are you obese?  Are you a bed wetter or something?  I will give you a tip, there is no real difference in price whatsoever and anyone who is overpaying is fooled and easily hoodwinked because they are too stupid to realize they are getting scammed.

I got a memory foam three years and a month ago and it still feels new, although I am a bit lighter than you lol.

I've had the same cheap bed with a very thin mattress for about 8 years now. Doing their job for me.

When I was with my wife we had a Tempur mattress - one of the worst things you can sleep on as a bodybuilder - they're oil-based fabric and so when they get hot, they stay hot and it becomes very uncomfortable - impossible to sleep on. They're great for women who are always cold but for guys with high protein intakes whose body temperatures are higher they're a nightmare - trust me - don't buy one. I was sleeping in the spare bed on a different mattress in the end because I just couldn't sleep on it.

you missed the point adno,,,,did you hear in there that WE NEED TO SELECT ONE WITH MORE COIL COUNT,,MORE PADDING,,,of course all mattresses are made the same they are made of coild, rectangle shape,,have stiches,,etc,,,dont reinvent the wheel,,,,

buying a walmart mattress,,,with low coil count and no padding,,,is alot different than buying one with more,,,,until you break the 200lb barrier,,,dont PM me on mattress
