chris was an all round "solid" bodybuilder,  just didn't have enough to overcome the top dogs then (well at least in the big shows).

Cormier was not overated at all.

He probably had the best balanced physique of the modern era. Unfortunately, you can lump Cormier in the 'if only' category since you rarely saw him in top, top form. A shame really, since his kind of physique balance is the one that ought to be winning all the shows.

Oh, and his third place at the Olympia behind bubble-Wheeler was a joke. He should have been second.

People talk about Ronnie's genetics , Flex's genetics . Chris trumped them both in natural structure , balance & proportion , I always said he's the black Bob Paris with more size , if anything he was underrated

Chris is very underrated. He had a great physique and definitely beat Cutler in at least one of the Arnolds.
He held his own in the the toughest era in bodybuilding.

this

the fact that he was so unbelieveably PERFECT was his biggest flaw. like the OP said, "no stand out bodyparts".  ::) every single muscle is a stand out body part. his aesthetics and muscle density were just astonishing.

I met Cormier for the first time this year.  I felt he was more down to earth and a lot more humble than I would think too, especially for a guy who was so strong, especially during his competitive days.  He talked about the Mike Tyson situation and I felt he was way more honest about it than most guys would be.  I think most guys would say they tried to fight Tyson and that Tyson backed down or something.  Instead Cormier just kind of related the events as they happened and didn't try to make himself out to be a tough guy or anything when he easily could have.  Cormier is also at a very healthy weight now and may still be running gear but obviously nothing like he used to be and I get the impression he still likes to train but wants to move past the competitive platform and remain behind the scenes and be healthy.  He even said in the RX Olympia wrap-up video that it's probably not healthy for Jay to continue to compete so obviously Chris knows the score.  Here is the video, but Chris doesn't show up until after the 21:00 mark:

Chris looked awesome in the 1999 Ironman Pro:
