When you start really talking to most of these far left lons you find out: 

1.  They can't point to a viable alternative to oil at this stage. 

2.  They dont give a shit if millions lose their jobs or cant afford to heat their homes. 

3.  They can't point to a single country they want us to model ourselves after but want to collapse our country with no plan thereafter. 

4.  They never explain how people will get to work or travel in their ideal utopia 

5.   Usually these idiots are around 18-25 yo and still brain dead without ever having any real world responsibilities.

You must not watch other news stations besides Fox.  Wasn't it the GOP that decided to hold hostage the country so the rich could get bush tax cuts for another 2 years, while unemployment benefits for the poor jobless were going to run out, they wouldn't be able to heat their home.

Battery powered cars and federal gov't fleet is changing to gas alternatives by some year mandated.  Did you see who the Occupy protesters were?  They were not 18 - 25, they were middle age and jobless.  Some younger ppl mixed in, but in all it was not a youth movement.

Going back to the question before it, we use about 5-10 times more energy than  could be used with alternative infrastructure.
