Night time shake advice

Ok, so you always read, have a protien shake for positive nitrogen balance, growth etc  but in order to have maximum GH output when you are sleeping you should not have anything before bed and almost go into a true fasting state...

So which is it?

We were taught that hGH secretion thrives in biological environments that are:
1.) low in fatty acids
2.) low in carbohydrates
3.) high in amino acids


I believe that carbs are the biggest antagonist to work against pituitary hGH release.
Slow-wave or Delta-wave sleep cycles also see hGH secretion levels peak.

I haven't looked at my endocrine system notes in a while, but if you want more info, I'll see if I can dig up my old notes and text books.
The above facts are from a combination of class lectures and other, more exercise-specific sources I've come across the last couple of years.

I always just ate stuff that digests slow before bed like whole eggs.  Seems to stick better than shakes for me.  ;)  But it probably does meet the 3 requirements Montague listed.

Montague, what are you studying?  Becoming an M.D.?  Or some specialty?

A person I trust, once told me to take some Gaba before bed ( teaspoon ), to increase night time GH.
Not sure what is its about that stuff, but it knocks me out.

GABA might almost be considered "GHB-lite," and as such, a lot of trainers take it for similar reasons - including boosting hGH output.
There’s been some debate over the effectiveness of using either substance for said reason.

Shenendoah University conducted a randomized, double-blind study on the stimulatory effects of GABA on ifGH & irGH secretion.
The study indicated an elevation in resting levels of both, with peak concentrations increased by nearly 400%.

There’s plenty of anecdotal evidence that also suggests GABA is an effective sleep aid, but many users report experiencing undesirable vivid dreams.

best protien for nightime is cottage cheese or a caesin protien shake.
