A man claiming to be Jesus was arrested, accused of smashing bus windows after an altercation with other bus passengers, police said.

Mark Esposito, 52, of Branford, got onto a Connecticut Transit Bus on East Main Street in Branford just after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday and told other passengers that he believed he was Jesus, police said.

From there, Esposito's behavior became irrational and tumultuous, police said.

When the passengers became alarmed, the bus driver reached out to his dispatch center to contact police.

When the driver pulled over to the side of the road at West Main Street and Alps Road, some men grouped together and got Esposito off the bus.

After being ejected, Esposito became more violent and smashed windows on the bus with his hands, police said.

Police charged Esposito with breach of peace and criminal mischief in the second degree.

He was taken to a medical facility for observation and treatment and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Court on Dec. 27 at 9:30 a.m.

An uTube vid showing a burly passenger bundling a foul-mouthed fare dodger from a train after an argument with a ticket inspector has become a viral hit. Titled 'ScotRail no ticket: don't mess with the big man', the YouTube video shows the teenager being turfed out of a train carriage by a frustrated fellow passenger on a ScotRail service between Edinburgh and Perth.

The incident begins when an elderly ticket inspector confronts the teenage passenger for not having a return ticket. The teenager begins swearing at the ticket inspector, who tells him: “I can sit here all night, I'm getting paid for this, but these folk will start moaning.”


When the young beanie wearer refuses to show a valid ticket or leave the train, a sturdily built passenger steps in and escorts him off the carriage, preventing him from returning by blocking the doorway. A thought bubble on the video comments: “Boom. You don’t mess with the big man.”

Fellow passengers then applaud the Big Man as he returns to his seat.


...A ScotRail spokesperson said they welcomed the public's support of their zero-tolerance stance on anti-social behaviour, but asked the public not to take matters into their own hands. ·
