Why can't they just train something, instead they are hell bent on smashing, destroying or blasting triceps or whatever bodypart.

It's too add a little Hollywood to their "inspiring" routines.

God damn, I need a gym like that! A gym with decent equipment and, more important, a gym where you can scream without turning heads.

I'd been training at Temple gym for over ten years up until February of last year and the reason why I left was because the gym doesn't actually have "decent" equipment - it may look fine on the video but most of the stuff is getting seriously bust up - they're constantly having to repair things because people treat the equipment like shit and the dumbells are always breaking - I just got sick of it in the end so I felt like a change of scenery for a while.

Temple gym is still a proper "hardcore" gym though, not because of the rustic equipment and dungeon environment - it's hardcore because of the attitude of the members - they all train incredibly hard and put some serious work in - you can see that the passion is there.

I've trained with Leroy many times and he's a good guy - very strong and does it right and I learned a lot from him. I still have quite a few mates in the gym and I go back every now and again to pay a visit but for now I'm happy to train in my current gym which is more closer to home and more practical to train at. Once you've been a member at Temple Gym though, especially for as long as I was, you never really leave it - it's like Getbig - you always go back eventually.

Getting tired of the wanting to be perceived hardcore by starting to grunt on rep 1 already. Intensity is intrinsic, hence INtensity. The whole screaming-grunting thing means they are actually having spare energy to do so and aren't training hard.

That's probably true. But I wasn't talking about purposefully holding it back, I was talking about doing it on purpose.

What does this have to do with my comment?

Heavy weights and perfect form allow the use of silly verbs?

Good and honest post.

In my experience (read: 7-8? gyms), most gyms, from fitness clubs to hardcore places, maintain their weights/equipment like shit. It's understandable that stuff gets broken every now and then, esp in a commercial environment, but please, FIX IT!
Serious, I have plans to make a list of all the issues found in my gym, and mail it to the lazy owner, since I only see him once a month.
