I do start today! And I know from experience that the strength is still there, but I blew out both my kneecap tendons once with deadlifting after a longer layoff. So I will start with gayish weights, and increase it considerably during the first weeks.
train at home because of my irregular schedule and because I don't exactly live in a metropolis like Delft so a decent gym is not around the corner.
That's good to hear. Yes, start with light weights, high reps and strict form, and include some cardio work, when needed.
It's the first time that I hear someone, who got knee problems from doing deads. I only get problems while running on hard ground, as an alternative for boring cardio sessions in my gym, so I switched to walking for an hour. In case I feel some pain I use knee wraps.
Believe me, there are no decent gyms in my town. Apart from a squat rack and heavy DB's, my gym is rather a trendy health spa, but hey, to me it's better than training at home. I've tried it, but I've lost the drive.
