 What a ridiculous post. Police state? What do you want for an alternative? A police-less state? Go to places like Colombia, Nigeria or Chiapas and see how that works for you. It's very easy to trash the police because they ocasionally give you a hard time for driving at 100 mp/h or getting drunk and loud in public, but without them all the scoundrels and vile bastards would be wetting their fingers thinking about you and your loved ones.

I have nothing against police doing their job.... as long as their job is keeping people from murdering each others, chase the burglars etc.

But FFS, for example here they organize massive raids to inspect if kids scooters run 50 km/h instead of legal 40 km/h... OMG haha, then they cry for more  money from us taxpayers 
Plus they have much too many rights these days. No, no one needs my fingerprints yet dna unless I have committed sum' crime. They of course want that data crying it would help solve crimes more efficiently.

Not going to list all things that annoy me in todays police but hope you got the idea. It's resembling North Korea more and more every day.

They are needed of course but should leave us working, law-abiding tax paying people alone!!!

Correct, police today is less about protecting the citizens from criminals, as it is about them using there powers to police as they see fit - which usually means thoroughly investigating anyone they see as suspicious or capable of committing a crime.
The problem with that of course is that Police are instictively distrustful of people, and theyre always assuming people are doing something wrong weather they are or not.

A State Trooper I knew told me every 3rd friday of the month they would tell them to go and pull over every 5th car that passed, and just to make up a reason why they stopped them. The logic was that every 1 in 5 people are committing a crime of some form.
He said they ticketed more people for bullshit reasons during those nights than during the whole month... seatbelts, rolling through stop signs... they were instructed to pull people out of the car and search them if they even felt that the person was acting shady, if they had any sort of weapon, or if there was any alcohol in the car. Even if it was sealed closed.

I mean WTF? Cops are here to protect us, not search us trying to catch us doing something wrong.
