this is what kids around the world actually believe. look at the comments. so you're a little athletic and take a little test, can't find a job, what do you do? become a youtube "strength" guru, of course.

i rarely comment on videos, but i felt compelled to this time. uh oh, self-proclaimed (and nigh illiterate) "engineer with years of physics education" "IskurBlast" is quick to enlighten me...
nonsense... the muscle will look the same. the reason bodybuilders have "bloofy" muscles isn't because of sarcoplasmic hypertrophy... it's because the hormones bloat them with water. when they drop the water at contest time with diuretics etc, their muscle looks every bit as dense and striated as anyone who's ever walked the planet.
Uh no they don't there is a reason your densest looking bodybuilders are also the ones who incorporate the most powerlifting work like Franco and Coleman.
And lol about powerlifters not being on steroids. All things being equal walking around on 1 gram of test, and 10% body fat the comparable powerlifter will always look denser than the bodybuilder.
i never said powerlifters don't use steroids... at the same bodyfat% with the same water retention, a bodybuilder and powerlifter will look exactly the same...
so ronnie squats and deads 800 now and then... it's called a training video. he says himself he pretty much never goes below ten reps. i guess becauase tom platz was renowned for doing insanely high rep sets should have some awfully "undense" legs.
muscle "density" has to do with your stack, if anything
Platz could also squat a proverbial ton. He had some extremely developed myofibers to go along with his sarcomplasmic hypertrophy. And he did in fact go heavy. His squat against Hatfield is still better than the current raw world record sub 198.
You are confusing density with being lean. All muscle has striation the more lean you are the more it shows. Density means that when you are walking around at normal body fat it still shows through because it is more pronounced.
A good example of density would be Franco vs. Metzner. Go pull some pictures of them. Look at some color pictures and black and white pictures of both. Look at the shots where they are doing the same poses in both the color and high contrast black and white. You will notice that Metzner's poses look better in color. Franco's looks better in high contrast. This is because high contrast extenuates depth.
"it still shows through because it is more pronounced" ... that's the same as saying "it shows through because it shows through."
if everyone were to diet down for a bodybuilding show, they would all look the same. in everyday situations, variations in lighting, bodyfat, and water retention give rise to this myth of "visible muscle density." as well, it depends on the compounds you are taking. trenbolone, equipoise, etc are commonly known to give a "dense" look.
so franco has more chest striations... fantastic. how "dense." too bad all of mike's "heavy duty" training with maximum poundages didn't give him any dense muscle...
and of course it's a good thing franco's training partner, arnold "75 sets to failure" schwarzenegger, ensured he stayed away from those sarcoplasm-volumizing high rep sets, lol
You keep throwing out red harings all over the place. In case you haven't noticed Elliot pulls a lot of his methods from westside, which means equal high weight and repetition training.
And its not that franco had more striations. Its that his were deeper. So they showed up well in a high contrast photo. If your lines are shallow they wont show up well in high contrast.
Tren and eq are commonly known to give a dense look because they are almost the most highly anabolic steroids in existence. They add the most true muscle growth instead of androgenic side effects that just swell the muscle.
I really cant stand arguing with the guys who rely 100% on the drugs and could care less about the physiology of what they are doing. It shows through because the striations and separation is deeper. I'm sorry that you are too stupid to understand this
I KEEP THROWING OUT RED HERRINGS? what does westside have to do with anything? "deeper striations"? so, now the depth of your striations is a sign of density, and related to how heavy you lift? oh brother...
every comment i've made has been in direct support of one point:
that you can see a difference in "muscle density" whether someone lifts "light" or "heavy" is ridiculous. and to attribute this to myofibrillar vs sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, give me a break!
in this case, it really is too bad big ron, with all his 800 lb squats, 2400 lb leg presses and the like never had a visibly striated sweep, unlike that sissy boy jay who somehow managed to have the most feathered quads ever with his 3 plate smith squats.
hahaha yes the "dense, myofibrillar, deeply striated, separated muscles"... i guess phil's arms, which show more "deep separation" than anyone in history must be due to his heavy lifting... with 80lbs barbells
I think you watch too many 7 week out of the Olympia training videos my little roided up douchebag.
What you see in pre-Olympia training is not the sum of any bodybuilders training. Even powerlifters back off on the amount of heavy training they do as they get older. Ed Coan's back off method has very little heavy training relative to what he did when he was younger.
Dude you are are roid douche, you ignorantly copy what Dan Duchane figured out. You know what not why.
haha i've never touched a steroid in my life. youre the one who brought up ron as an example of a bodybuilder who "lifts heavy" based on, doubtless, his infamous "pre-olmpia training videos," when he, in reality, and just like everyone else, lifts heavy for the camera and then goes back to his 15 rep sets.
you're incoherent. "You know what not why." lol. epic pseudo intellectual talking about "depth of striations" on youtube. you've been destroyed.
just look at all the positive comments this video gets... "awesome knowledge man!" "you're incredible!" "brilliant!" one of the commenters, with a straight face, talks about how hes eating "2498" calories, and the reasoning behind this lol, it's sickening... and there are TONS of retards like this all over the place -- youtube is certainly swarming with them.
