L.A. woman commits suicide with chainsaw, police say



A Los Angeles woman killed herself with a chainsaw, police said Thursday.

Police reported to the 3600 block of Keystone Avenue in Palms about 12:40 a.m. Thursday, after the victim’s sister arrived and called 911, said LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman. She described the victim as being in her mid-40s, adding that fire officials say the body's decomposition indicates she may have been dead for as long as a day.

“Two sisters, they share an apartment,” Eisenman said. “The door [to the victim’s room] was jammed a little, and the sister was able to see her on the bed with a chainsaw next to her.”

Eisenman said the case was initially labeled as a possible homicide, but that changed when investigators found a suicide note.

Los Angeles County coroner’s spokesman Larry Dietz said a coroner’s official is still at the scene and his office has no additional information at this time.

Crazy way to die, but it happens more than one might think. I remember reading it use to happen in communist countries a lot, guys would get depressed at their jobs, and dive into bandsaws and the like.

How do you kill yourself with a chainsaw in your house? I can see if you're cutting a branch and fall off a ladder with the saw on top of you, but in your house?

I'm thinking some sort of foul play here...anyone else?

Not much info on this, but the apartment is a 2 level, nice looking place with lawns and small trees. She might of grabbed it from a maintenance/storage area.
