It's interesting, while they've been able to decrease reported cases in the homosexual communities, it's been getting worse in the hetrosexual  population, and once again women wind up on the short side of the stick. It's covered in the trends portion of that link.

Actually it's very, very low, in fact one of the lowest. You do the math....four percent of the entire world has aids, now 1.2 million is less then half of a percent of 300 million and the US has over 300 million people so per capita that is low.
