Mayweather -vs- Cotto = $105,000,000
« on: May 09, 2012, 10:06:52 PM »
Looks like the Mayweather v. Cotto fight did 1.5 million "buys" on pay-per-view. At $69.95 per buy that's $105,000,000. Jesus fucking Christ that's a lot of money.

I didn't get any.

Mayweather's manager is a fucking genius.

Not only does he get a cut of the PPV revenue, he gets a % of the live gate, close circuit broadcast, and all concessions.  He really is making $$$.

I read that Pacquiao actually makes a lot more money than Mayweather, but that's just because of endorsements world wide.

when its all said and done, and he is retired from boxing....

he will take Mike Tysons place of Dumbest Athletes to go broke

This one is a no-brainer. Tyson has lost the equivalent of the GDP of some small countries in his lifetime. The estimate on Iron Mike is $300-$400 million.

At one point Tyson was worth less than $700. No missing comma there, no missing numbers. Just $700.

How did he do it?

$4.5 million in cars
$2 million bathtub
$140K for two Bengal Tigers
Three marriages
Five children
Don King
Drugs
Court
Jail

In May 2010, Mike went on TV and stated, "I'm totally destitute and broke."

Running through that much money in that short an amount of time is an awesome accomplishment.

How do you know?  Do you have a crystal ball?

Not all athletes go broke, some actually make great investments such as Jamal Mashburn.

Read the story below about Jamal.

Sorry, Manny maybe broke before his career is even over.

As far as FMW, I guess beating $1M on a basketball game and winning in Vegas is a good investment.  :-\

At one point, they figured Mayweather will pick up $70,000,000 from the fight, plus everything that offshoots from it. Can you imagine the numbers if Mayweather - Pacquiao ever happens.......

He was an avid fan of the movie "Brewster's Millions" with Richard Pryor.
