Advice on TRT
« on: June 18, 2012, 09:31:14 PM »
I would greatly appreciate some feedback on this please.

My dad is 55 years old and was prescribed test cype three months ago(10 ml 200 mg).  The Dr. is giving him 400 mg in one shot once per month.

1) Is this a normal or even recommended way of administering test?

2)  Would taking 100-250mg a week be a better alternative?

100mg per week would be waaaayyyyy better. constant level in the blood keeps from going up and down. the up and down SUCKS.

dad should be pinning it himself, 100-150 per week. that "low" does will work wonders for him.

Yes, man, that doc is dumb. Steady levels means less blood level fluctuations=less sides... He probably is busy and just prefers to not have to shoot him up every week so he does it once a month....

1) Doctors are stupid, or some are not as experienced as bodybuilders when it comes to testosterone. To a doc, he prescribes X amount a month, and he doesnt care about the frequency.  He doesnt care or know better the difference between administering the whole X amount once a month, or administering 1/4th of the X amount every week

2) half life speaks for itself. most optimistic folks would say that test cyp/enth have the max half life of 14 days ( i personally think 7-8 days is a good number).  It just seems stupid that with a long ester like enth and cyp, the doctor will prescribe something with the frequency of double the half life ==> that just screams unsteady blood levels, and your dad's hormone levels will be on a roller coaster

3) IMO, do weekly injectsions of .5 ml

I've seen Docs prescribe 200mg every 3-4 weeks before. Doesn't make much sense to me when you are using Cyp.

100mg EW is the standard replacement TRT.
