Why not a 6 yr 1 term system like Mexico?
« on: July 17, 2012, 09:34:03 AM »
I was watching the election in Mexico recently and got to thinking about the pros and cons of a 6 yr 1 term for President. Personally I think the pros outweigh the cons.

Most US presidents spend the 1st year learning the ropes and the last 2 yrs trying to get re-elected. Plus elections and campaigns aren't cheap. Why not just go with the 1 time, 6 yr limit where they can concentrate on the matters at hand, and we don't have to be subjected to the damn TV ads every 4 yrs... Just a thought..

I have come to that same idea.  One term and done.

Senate 2 terms, House 5 terms.
