M. Night Shyamalan - the Visit

Started off good with some great movies (Sixth Sense, Unbreakable), got to be so-so with Signs.  Then fell into turd territory with things like The Village and The Happening (both had good plots 2/3 of the way through.. the endings ruined the whole experience).

Lately he has been in the unbearable to watch category.  Anyone plan to go see his new attempt The Visit?

In the theatre it was unbearable

A few years later i watched it on tv and it was it was better than the first time

Watched it again years later and enjoyed it more than before

Could've been alot better though

The movie music in the background was over emotional and too loud

Only saw it once at the theater. Haaaaated it. If I watch it again, will it be better?

I read a review of The Visit that said it was so good, all of his former duds were forgiven.

Heard it was good but I'd happily watch Mad Max Fury Road for the 58th time instead.

Was anyone else at that dickhead stage of lifting that you critiqued the benchpress scene in Unbreakable to the person watching with you? I know I did cos I was benching about 5kg less than he did.

Absolutely, same here. Nolan is a f'n genius. Watch 'Following' some day; similar tone and structure, but still all its own.

He's made/directed some pretty cool movies. The cause for his sore outings might be believing in his own hype and trying to forcefully reproduce what, most likely, comes naturally to him anyhow.
