Bro, don't sell yourself short. There are reasons why you like the music and movies you do, and they probably have a lot in common with so-called "highbrow" art. Art is created and appreciated by human beings. There is a famous saying by the Roman Terence: "Homo sum, humani nihil a me alienum puto;" roughly, "I am a human, nothing that is human is alien to me." This is also quoted by the German philosopher Hegel in his lectures on aesthetics. A lot of themes in art are universal, you just have to reflect a bit and articulate why x-song or y-movie has meaning for you, why it is so powerful.
