Bartolo Colon suspended 50 games for testosterone

Oakland Athletics pitcher Bartolo Colon is the latest major league player to run afoul of baseball's drug policy, earning a 50-game suspension after testing positive for testosterone, Major League Baseball announced.

The suspension comes a week after San Francisco Giants' Melky Cabrera was suspended for the same offense. He is also the fifth player to be suspended this year.


"I apologize to the fans, to my teammates and to the Oakland A's," Colon said in a statement. "I accept responsibility for my actions and I will serve my suspension as required by the Joint Drug Program

they dont care - they still get paid $$.

Use in a contract year, get a nice guaranteed

I like the idea of ending their MLB contract instantly for drug test fails.  Watch how fast the motive to cheat is gone.

These tests aren't 100%. And the fact that sabotage exists in sports, that's a hell of a lot to lose if you get some rogue restaurant owner or bartender who decides he wants to drop a little powdered novedex in your shirley temple a few times a month just because you stiffed him on a tip once or twice.

Christ, these fools are getting busted for testosterone, and you know it's only low dose based on their physiques.  Easy enough to mask with exogenous epi as long as you run a few labs to get the ratio in order and ensure that total epi levels aren't out of range. Other tricks too, but that's testosterone masking 101...

Again, why this is news is beyond me. If anything the test he was taking was probably helping stay below the 60% BF he's carrying. News would be if he went to Jenny Craig and dropped 75-100lbs. News would be if he put down the plate enchiladas and three carmel flans and had a vegetable. Dude's a pig. He's been with 50 teams and released because of injuries because he's so fucking fat.

All true but he's have a very good year. He's only 10-9 but his ERA is under 3.50. You're right though, this guy should have dropped like 50 pounds and really gave it a go. Just wait till CC Sabathia breaks down. Talk about a fat pig. He's producing so nobody says much but its coming.

Ive had the chance to see him "eat" while playing for the Sox and the Yankees  and believe me... I don't know why he doesnt weight 400 pounds...
