Bodybuilders and their salaries
« on: September 04, 2012, 10:41:50 AM »
In every other "sport", the athletes salary are all know. We know A-Rod is raping the Yankees for $30 million this year. But in bbing, everything is so hush, hush. I know when i was with Muscletech, if you turn pro while under contract you get a salary of $24k a year. I heard Seth was getting $60K a year and another pro from Tampa was making $80K a year. I would "assume" Phil is getting six figures and Ronnie got a cool million for BSN

Not in every other sport.  Sports that have salary caps or salary penalties.  The biggest sports with teams on them, aka basketball, baseball, football.  Most other sports do not disclose salaries, except prize money from each event that they can get.

As for supplement companies, or other sponsors, they tend to keep things quiet because it is a business. You don't know how much other people get from other sponsors in other sports either. They don't go blasting out that info either. It just isnt good business. Same with actors in Hollywood either.

But, yes, quite a few bodybuilders can make 100K and more a year if they mix it up with contracts, guest posings and seminars, and more.  And not the G4P crap some of you think.   I know one bodybuilders that has a deal with a supplement company, a restaurant, a show company, a clothing companies, and some others sponsors.

that's more than decent money... i'm surprised! that's actually on a par with what the average 'major league soccer' pro makes a year

The truth is that 85% of IFBB pros still have a side job in order to make ends meet.

Another 10% of the top IFBB pros make between 50-75K..

The very top 5% of IFBB (Mr. Olympia 1-5) make around 100-200K tops.

Anything else is bullshit.  Like Yaroni said, there is one guy that I also know (Bob Chick) who has multiple sponsorships and makes well above 500K.

P.S. How do I know?  This comes from feedback from the IFBB pros in the NYC circuit.

Isn't that code for G4P?   ;)

Wouldn't it make more sense for the BB to come out and say what they're making to drive the price up? This happens in all other sports or tv deals ect, "if so and so got this, I want that".  I can see why the companys want to keep it quiet they're prob getting over on a lot of guys, especially if they don't have an agent...

I suspect that the g4p is only for the majority that cannot hack it as in cannot get a grip on their finances and their income, people like Dorian or Ronnie just have a good handle on their finances.

Yup the top guys do ok and don't need to go into that crap. Plus their are bodybuilders out there who actually make decent $$ via other legit careers or work as successful trainers with a good base of regular clients.
