To be honest he isn't to impressive in person, thick yes but very short like 5'6 or 5'7 short
I wouldn't describe that height as "very short."

Besides, you just described 75% of pro/top amateur bodybuilders. You must not have met many bodybuilders in person before, otherwise you would not have been particularly surprised at Johnnie's shorter-than average height.

Same with johnnie and victor m. IMO both of those guys looked their best at nationals in 2000 and 2001 repectively.

Johnnies standing calf raises is hard to watch, I know it's mostly genetics and drugs but you would think if he slowed it down and performed with better form he would improve them a bit...
Yeah, both looked better.
Maybe JJOJ should take a page out of Shawn Ray's calf training---slow it down, less weight. And have you seen Ronnie train calves on the seated calf machine? He does that jerky-bounce---he trains biceps and everything else in a more controlled manner, but calves..

Seated shoulder barbell press = standing incline barbell press

that a joke!  Injury waiting to happen !

ya those for sure where inclines. Esp/when he went to 315... I'd bet the house that if the back support was where its supposed to be for shoulders, he would barely be able to get a couple FULL reps with 315.

I dont get why branch always says that his style of training works for him. Yet his goal is win a Mr. Olympia, which he has never done. Obviously if you're not accomplishing what you set out to do (win the Mr.O) then maybe the current training youre doing is not that effective.

I guess its effective if youre happy with not winning.

He's incapable of change. That's why he drives a massive truck, shoots helpless animals and is a republican to his death. He's a brainwashed robot. He's not even open to change. Being open to change shows intelligence.

And how is a different style of training going to be the difference, in terms of winning the Olympia? As for his training style not being effective, I think two ASC titles and a 2nd place at the 2009 Olympia (not to mention his other wins) would beg to differ.

But, by your strained logic, unless he wins the Olympia, every thing he's done to this point is a waste. Did Dexter Jackson's style of changing change in 2008 to give him the win?

If he wins the O, or even comes in 2nd, any shread of legitimacy that bbing has will be thrown out the door.

All that his training method has done has made him look like an Orc.

He came in 2nd three years ago. Are you implying that bodybuilding hasn't had any legitimacy since 2009?

Anyone else come to the conclusion that JJ and Branch arent really insanely strong but use technique to get the weight to move. The video of the guy who inclined 200 pound dumbbells is insanely strong. Branch and JJ use the exact same technique of moving good amounts of weight a 1/4 rep at a time. Nassar's 225 pound bench press super slow is more impressive that some of these fools so called lifts.lol

Well, if training matters so much, as you have stated, then yes, a different style of training may make a difference.

Branch has said, like most other bodybuilders that his dream is to win the Mr. O. But if youre not winning the Mr. O, then why would you keep doing the same thing every year and still not winning the Mr. ? Does not make sense to me. If youre not accomplishing what your main goal is, why wouldn't you change it up?

Cannot use his wins as evidence to suggest his training works. Bodybuilding is corrupted. He was a muscletech guy for a long time. Of course he won shows.

Given his injuries, his shitty aesthetics, and him never winning a Mr. O, id say its time for a change.

Dexter probably never had to change his training all that much. He always trained fairly well for a pro bodybuilder (thats not saying much either). And he was always on point, decent lines, etc. Not much to change when you have dexters build. He was always close enough. However, Branch is VERY far off, which would indicate a need for a change.

Your explanations make little sense. Training the way he does now got him within a heartbeat of the Olympia title in 2009 and won him two ASC titles.

As for your claiming his wins are due to his being a Muscletech guy, need I remind you that Greg Kovacs, Matt Duvall, Jeramy Freeman, King Kamali were also MuscleTech guys for several years. Johnnie Jackson was too, before he won his first show.

If bodybuilding is so "corrupted", it makes even LESS sense for you to cite Warren's training as the reason he's yet to win the Olympia. And you've yet to answer exactly what is Warren supposed to be doing that going to make all the precious difference in his winning the big one (other than using one of the plates to clobber Heath in the back of the head).

Man, you really got a hard on for these bodybuilders and take serious offense when someone knocks them lol.

To be honest, I am too tired to even write a response back. I guess I lost this "argument." Like winning a bodybuiling argument has any merit anyway lol

I stand by my stance that he trains shitty, has a shitty physique, and should never be top 6 in the Mr. O with his structure. To be honest, his structure is so shitty, nothing will help him lol. Lost cause. If you want to love branch and write a retort so be it. Ill probably just read it and laugh.

When it comes to Branch, there is no legitimacy---when it comes to bbing, it can be laughable at times.

You are right the height isn't very short but relative to normal population height. Ive met my fair share and that height seems to be the average since I lived most of my life training and growing up in california. I would say flex, Cormier, Ronnie and up to dillet are good heights for bbing.

I brought up johnnie and branchs height cause the dude is thick and some of the best traps, chest in the biz. But when I saw him in tx he looked shorter than listed which was around 5'8/5'9

Matt C height approved

It looks like Branch in particular has lost a lot of strength as he's aged.  Even with the herky jerky sloppy form, he still struggles with the weight.  He could reduce the weight significantly and still keep all his size.
