I can attest that Gadaffi's highways were on par if not better than German's autobahn (built to a higher standard for Gadaffi). While now in Canada I fuck up my suspension every year or so on my cars from all the potholes, cracks and 'patch up' jobs.

In fact one of my cars... during winter... the whole wheel broke from hitting a hole on the road. Literally the most loudest bang you can imagine driving a car while not in an accident. Wife freaked out. It was not a road i was new to, it was a road i regularly turned on to home. However it was water filled and you can't see shit when road is sunken in.. most of our roads are barely straight. The hole 'magically' appeared even though i went through that road days on days.

Complained to the city hall and they fixed it in a day or three, took 2 months to get back to me, i didnt take photos of the hole although it was HUGE..  even though it was clearly visibly patched up afterwards they said the road was 'fine'. Fucking crooks. Killed my LCA, balljoints, wheel, shock mount, blown shock, etc...

The US is not that very different with crumbling roads.

Oh and yes Arab countries have lights and electricity. In fact they are obsessed with lights at night. Here on some parts of the highway I can't see shit driving at night.
