He has given over 50 percent of his wealth away already and plans to give all of it away by the end of his life.  I hope this helps, you incorrigible moron.

Only a limp wristed beta male with some stupid name like raymondo would refer to the dailymail as evil. I don't like it because it is the state sponsored safety valve stopping whites from turning to more radical political beliefs.

"Plans to give it all away by the end of his life". Ok when Bill Gates is sleeping rough on the streets after giving his last dollar to charity bring this topic back up.

 ::)

Even if Bill Gates gives 99% of his money to charity he will still have more than everyone on this forum, what part of that don't you understand? He has so much money he has nothing else to do with it. That's not real generosity and he certainly is not the most generous man in the USA.

So for him to be generous means giving away ALL of his money???

You don't make sense.  So someone making $5000 a year giving away a couple bucks isn't generous until he gives away all $5000?

Bill Gates can afford to give away 50% of his money and still be able to buy anything anyone could ever possibly want for himself and his family, how is that hard to understand?

Your logic is idiotic. So, what you're saying if your net worth is let's say 50 billion, you're not generous before you bring your wealth down to a level that makes your wealth less than an average person, therefore making it a 'sacrifice'?

Do you realize that Bill Gates doesn't even know his exact wealth at any given time like most of us do? It would be impossible for him to meet your 'criteria' of being generous.

Why is there always a hater - even for the greatest philanthropist ever known.  >:(

Which charities recieve his money?
I'm guessing most of the charities are based in Apefrika or Israhell. I doubt he will be donating money to impoverished eastern european countries anytime soon, only politically correct charities. So fuck him and his generosity aka PR stunts.

I've heard some stupid justifications for the DM, but this takes the cake- it takes itself far too seriously.

good points here.  He barely spends money here.  Always helping other countries.

SPend a billion and help a bunch of africans, or spend a billion in the USA and build schools for our youth.  They don't see it that way.

Where does it say he gave billions to schools?  I know of a few donations in the millions he made to some tech high schools but not in the billions.

Education

Smaller Schools
The Gates foundation claims one in five students is unable to read and grasp the contents of what they read, and African American and Latino students are graduating with the skills of a middle school student.[38] The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation has invested more than US$250 million in grants to create new small schools, reduce student-to-teacher ratios, and to divide up large high schools through the schools-within-a-school model.[38]

Cornell University
Faculty of Computing and Information Science received US$25 million from the Foundation for a new Information Science building which will be named the Bill and Melinda Gates Hall. The total cost of the building is expected to be US$60 million. Construction began in March 2012 and is expected to be completed by 2014.[39]

Carnegie Mellon University
The Foundation gave US$20 million to the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science for a new Computer Science building which is named the Gates Center for Computer Science.[40] It officially opened on September 22, 2009.[41]

D.C. Achievers Scholarships
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced March 22, 2007 a US$122 million initiative to send hundreds of the District of Columbia's poorest students to college.[42]

Gates Cambridge Scholarships
Donated US$210 million in October 2000 to help outstanding graduate students outside of the United Kingdom study at the University of Cambridge. Approximately 100 new students every year are funded.[43]

Gates Millennium Scholars
Administered by the United Negro College Fund, the foundation donated US$1.5 billion for scholarships to high achieving minority students.[44]

NewSchools Venture Fund
The Foundation contributed US$30 million to help NewSchools to manage more charter schools, which aim to prepare students in historically underserved areas for college and careers.

Strong American Schools
On April 25, 2007, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation joined forces with the Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation pledging a joint US$60 million to create Strong American Schools, a nonprofit project responsible for running ED in 08, an initiative and information campaign aimed at encouraging 2008 presidential contenders to include education in their campaign policies.[45]

Teaching Channel
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced in September 2011 a US$3.5 million initiative to launch a multi-platform service delivering professional development videos for teachers over the Internet, public television, cable and other digital outlets. [46]To date, over 13,500 teachers and educators have joined the community to share ideas, lesson plans and teaching methods.[47]

The Texas High School Project

The project was set out to increase and improve high school graduation rates across Texas. The foundation committed US$84.6 million to the project beginning in 2003. The THSP focuses its efforts on high-need schools and districts statewide, with an emphasis on urban areas and the Texas-Mexico border.[48]

University Scholars Program
Donated US$20 million in 1998 to endow a scholarship program at Melinda Gates' alma mater, Duke University.[49] The program provides full scholarships to about 10 members of each undergraduate class and one member in each class in each of the professional schools (schools of medicine, business, law, divinity, environment, nursing, and public policy), as well as to students in the Graduate School pursuing doctoral degrees in any discipline. Graduate and professional school scholars serve as mentors to the undergraduate scholars, who are chosen on the basis of financial need and potential for interdisciplinary academic interests. Scholars are chosen each spring from new applicants to Duke University's undergraduate, graduate, and professional school programs. The program features seminars to bring these scholars together for interdisciplinary discussions and an annual spring symposium organized by the scholars.

Washington State Achievers Scholarship
The Washington State Achievers program encourages schools to create cultures of high academic achievement while providing scholarship support to select college-bound students.

William H. Gates Public Service Law Program
This program awards five full scholarships annually to the University of Washington School of Law. Scholars commit to working in relatively low-paying public service legal positions for at least the first five years following graduation.[50]

Pacific Northwest

Discovery Institute
Donated US$1 million in 2000 to the Discovery Institute and pledged US$9.35 million over 10 years in 2003, including US$50,000 of Bruce Chapman's US$141,000 annual salary. According to a Gates Foundation grant maker, this grant is "exclusive to the Cascadia project" on regional transportation, and it may not be used for the Institute's other activities, including promotion of intelligent design.[citation needed]

Rainier Scholars
    Donated US$1 million

Computer History Museum
Donated US$15 million to the museum in October 2005.[51]

TrueAdonis you do realise that you would not last 5 seconds in a black neighbourhood without being robbed, beaten and left for dead. Yet you seem to care a great deal for these "culturally enriching" people.

Why wait until the end of his life, if he wanted to  make a difference he would give it all away now! Oh, and what charity to you think he is giving it too, wait for it "The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation".  Like I said, Bill relies on the stupidity of the average citizen when designing his Public Relations projects.

Give it all away now?  Finance isn`t your strong point.  As long as he keeps what he does, more money is made via compound interest, thus increasing the amount he is able to give for decades to come.  Giving it all would hinder this.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is 100 percent transparent.

Finance isn't my strong point, what are you going on about! Compound Interest! WTF, do you think Bill makes his money from high interest bearing savings accounts, your a Knob! You fail to understand the only way someone can be mega rich is for their to be millions of people in poverty, this is the way it works, Bill doesn't give a fuck about other people, if he really wanted to help, he would use his influence to change the system, so that people like him couldn't become mega wealthy at the expense of millions of other people.  Him giving away money is only done to win over other people (PR), it has nothing to do with helping anybody.  By thinking that other people benefit if the mega rich are allowed to continue exploiting others and negatively impacting on other peoples financial well being only to give it away to their own corrupt charitable foundations is somehow a good thing is well beyond me.  The only way for the rich to get richer is to exploit others, their is no other way around this, The fact you think "The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation" is transparent shows your high level of naivety and gullibility.

The Charity invests assets that it has not yet distributed with the exclusive goal of maximizing return on investment. As a result, its investments include companies that have been charged with worsening poverty in the same developing countries where the Foundation is attempting to relieve poverty. These include companies that pollute heavily, and pharmaceutical companies that do not sell into the developing world, when this was discovered they stood by their policy of investing for maximum return even though it contradicts their supposed Philanthropy, so rather than actually helping, once again a rich fucker is helping destroy the planet and create more poverty all in the name of being Good, so now not only can rich fuckers continue getting richer, they can convince they more gullible in the population that they are actually being charitable while doing it. (Brilliant PR but this is just the tip of the iceberg - only an idiot would continue thinking this is actually a Charity).  I say this all the time, but it amazes me how gullible people are and how sucked in they are by the Public relations techniques of the ultra rich, it seems their is no help for you, as Bills well researched PR has had it's desired effect, you actually think you and Bill could be good mates and that Bill is a good man.

He didn't spend a dime, his charitable foundation picked up the tab.   Big difference.
