I'm the first person against government fucking with me and my rights. But did you guys not pay attention to why he stopped him? Think about it for a second, do you think this video wasn't a setup? You think this guy didn't want police to stop him? He knew what he was doing. People were calling 911 saying a guy was walking around with a gun. We don't know what he was doing or saying, but I can tell you he was looking for a confrontation.

Yes when the police get calls about someone they have the right and duty to check it out. So if it was a young black kid with a gun it would be ok to ignore him? So they talked to him to make sure he wasn't a crazy person. He has the right to carry the gun and police have the right to talk to him. There has to be a balance.

If I was walking up and down a street starring into peoples windows in the middle of the night would it be wrong if the police stopped me to ask what I was doing? Or should I study  some cases so I can tell him to fuck off?

Its legal though so there shouldn`t be any confrontation.
Thanks for proving  with this idiotic childish post you dont know what you re talking about as you obviously never had a gun in your hands nor the official authorization to have one.

If you were staring from the road, then fine.  On someone elses property, you might get shot at if you stand there long enough.  :D

Kind of a mixed emotion thing for you. You hate pitbulls and you hate the police. you went 50/50 today
Well, it was an interesting story, I also don't believe in citizens owning guns.  I do feel sorry for the old guy who was killed though.  First he encountered an angry pitbull, and if indeed it was attacking, I can understand the heightened state the old guy would have been in, it is a primal thing, he would have had a massive adrenaline dump that would have stayed with him after he shot the pitbull, it's not something that is easily controlled, when put in a real fearful state, you begin to see more things than usual as a threat.  And unfortunately for him, his fearful state then snowballed onto the policeman who entered the same fearful state and then acted on what his training is under such circumstances, which is to shoot to kill.

Of course, at the end of all this, I blame society for not doing anything about the dangerous dog situation, apparently neighbours had complained about these pitbulls straying through the neighbourhood for weeks, and as usual, animal control did fuck all, and now an old man is dead.  And by all accounts he appears to have been a decent citizen.  Just a sad sad story.

That said, I do think that cops serve a purpose, but more times than none, they render themselves useless by simply meeting quotas and slapping fines on individuals for the most petty of things (traffic violations, Jaywalking etc..).

"1"

That's their purpose.  They are glorified meter readers.

Had a record number of traffic fatalities and pedestrians killed last year in this city. Tickets were down. You may feel writing tickets for traffic violations is petty, I think running red lights is reckless and dangerous

Of course running red lights is very bad.  But most tickets are surely for minor infringements like a few miles over the limit etc.

I don't have the stats to rebut that off hand but I can say that most of the cops around here have a minimum 10 over before writing and most are 15 over on a highway. Wouldn't be enough time in the day to write for a few miles over since everyone drives a few miles over. Residential areas are different. If it's 30 mph 8-10 could get you a ticket.

Wow that's good.  In Australia they are much stingier.
