rich people fundraising?
« on: March 15, 2013, 07:02:57 AM »
I have a friend (more of a friend of a friend) who is fairly loaded. Ive never seen his bank account but I'd guess he makes 300K a year.

Hes running the LA marathon but is "trying to raise $1,000" for a good cause in the mean time. So he blows up facebook with attention whore pictures and asks people to donate to Am Red Cross. All the lemmings write him: "its such a good thing you are doing" etc.

Its like the guy gets on a megaphone and screams 'everyone gather around, Im about to do a good thing here.'  :-\

While I see what you're saying, and that he is being a doosh, if the end result is donating to a good cause, isn't it a win? He may be donating money out of his own account, and then just using this to raise awareness. Btw, what are you doing looking at my Facebook.  ;D

I worked for a telemarketing company that dealt almost exclusively with police and fire departments. They did mothing except have their name atttached to something good. If you were in good with the company, you got 20% of all you produced. That is on top of all the other bullshit costs. Do shit directly, and it is annoying when people that have money act like that.

Matthew 6:2: "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full."
