Yeah I think we do agree on some things too.  :)
Hey Disgusted, will you accept my apology for my behavior in that McDonalds thread.  I feel I could have conducted it a bit better and given the same information in a less divisive way.  I think our debates are good and everyone learns something from you or me or whatever.  Its a welcome change from most of the threads here.

I will be more respectful to you in the future as I feel you are an asset to this site.

The question is how much? IMO not enuff to care about if you are dieting correctly. Remember, BBig is an illusion.

I have no idea how to answer than in a measurable way. They usually just preach that you'll lose some muscle on the way down to 'legally shredded' levels but to do the best you can to retain it by continuing to try and gain strength in your training, refeed days once every 5-7 days depending on BF level, and keeping protein around 1.3-1.5g. 3DMJ and Layne have identical dieting methods, as the 3DMJ guys are former clients of Layne's. Main difference is Layne prescribes a lot more cardio (and usually HIIT) for his clients. On average I'd say the 3DMJ clients retain more mass dieting down and do so in a easier way.

is this 1.3-1.5g per pound of bodyweight or per kilo of bodyweight?

per pound. On average they start around 1.25 and move closer to that 1.5g as the person gets leaner. Not unusual to see a 200lb 15% bf guy start at 250g and be around 300g @ <6-7% bf

Adam absolutely I will accept it and I'll extend my apologies back to you also. Things get heated on here and we argue but in the end we can all learn from each other. I take none of this personally thanks.

Thats ok.  Too much protein will burn up the kidneys over time. Protein = overated mostly just for merchants to make money

Tom Platz also ate pop tarts too during prep, but here's the thing. High fructose corn syrup for example among other things will raise up his insulin levels which in turn will tell his body to retain fat.  Anyone can get shredded by starving themselves on a high sugar diet, but their results will be much better by eating quality food in a certain proportion. They will retain muscle mass easier and even build while dieting. Someone who is 100% natural doesn't not have much room for error like someone who may be using many different type of fat burners like thyroid dnp etc.

Do you have a copy of this kids diet?  I would def believe that this kid can eat a pop tart or two daily during his contest prep, but I am curious what other type of high sugar foods he may be eating and if so would like to know what his rational is for doing so.
The effects of insulin have no long-term effect on fat loss, if the caloric deficit is right then you will lose weight as the same rate no matter how sugary the food you are eating is. As long as you are getting the right macronutrients then insulin is irrelevant.

Mr.Nobody no natural bodybuilder is going to get kidney damage from eating too much protein you are talking shit.

WAY over.  I was forcefeeding myself trying to get to 240 or so in order to try to Deadlift over 600 lbs in 2005.  Did you not read that?

I was over 12 percent easily and by choice.

TA, check this guy's training out. He just made it to 600 without being 240 lbs:

I know its possible but the quickest road for me was to gain fat.  I am working my way to there now without any of the fat.
