Why make it legal to carry a weapon if carrying that legal weapon constitutes probable cause for police to "investigate" you?  If he was pointing it at people that's one thing.  Dude was minding his business walking and he had his son with him.  He did answer the cop when he was questioned.  He told him that he was hiking with his son.  It's none of the cops business why he had the rifle.  It's legal to carry it.

I agree, but i donno if it does "constitute" investigation as i am not a cop nor know the laws.  It would be good if we had an actual cop to comment on this.

It's possible that he didn't turn on the camera until the point at which the clip begins. We may be seeing all of the existing footage.

So in order to document your hike you have to record the hike in it's entirety?

It's anyone's guess, but I doubt that participants in this hike have their cameras running nonstop from start to finish. I would expect they are more likely to record key parts of the expedition; specific locations or activities, etc.

Sorry, friend. I made my post above before reading yours. But yes, that's the gist of my point.

of course not.  but in the absence of video showing the initial encounter to the point of pinning him on the car how can we really determine who is at fault?

Trying to start a scene by legally carrying a legal firearm while walking with his young son in rural Texas?

Dude wasn't threatening anyone or breaking any laws.  Some chickenshit saw him, pissed his pants, and then called the pigs to harass him.  He wasn't walking through the mall with an AR15 locked and loaded.  The rifle was clipped to his kit, pointing at the grass.  The dude was just walking.  Why have laws if we don't enforce them properly?

Police have every right to follow up on a complaint or concern and he wasn't cooperating.  But the truth is that he was wanting that confrontation to happen....marching around with an AR-15 assault rifle.  He got what he wanted so fuck him.

If it was a black guy or Arab walking around with the same weapon, he would have been shot and no one would have said anything else other than he deserved it

True, ...but do you think the way to uphold the Black guy's or the Arab's guy's rights is to deny the white guy his?

Hmmm... you may be onto something  :-\

I believe the comment "We're exempt from the law" is going to come back to bite the Temple police in the butt!

Doubt it, there are many laws police are exempt from. Not all, but many in order to do their jobs.

There is a law on the books of carrying a weapon in public that causes alarm. Officers were dispatched to the call and were within their rights to have him put down the weapon as they investigated. Had he complied, likely he'd be on his way in a few minutes. He wanted this more than 24K wants you to invest in her gold scam.

Based on that stupid remark, it appears you believe that cops are exempt from libel as well.   :-\
