I'm having a MRA done on my shoulder for a labral tear I have from 7yrs ago. Has anybody been through this route before? To possibly have surgery for a past injury to make the shoulder stronger for your workouts - Thanks.

it sucks... I'm post op 15 weeks...I benched bar plus 4 10's and my shoulder feels like I put up 3 plates of 45's...whole arm looks like shit, delt is gone I cringe at 10lb dumbbell shoulder press... while my other side does 8 reps of 75. Read in training section if questions ask...

I've done MRI, inwhich you drink the idye. But with MRA, they'll inject the idye directly into the injured area for a closer look.

I did read your post in the other thread. It seems like your recovery isn't going to well. I'd suggest following up with your Orthopedic Surgeon, instead of consulting with your PT at this point. Good luck.

Sorry i'll be more specific. I had a MRI - Arthogram, with an injection of a contrast medium.

My son had the exact same thing done last Fri as a precaution. Dr. just thinks it may be biceps tendonitis though. Waiting for results as we speak.

saw him last Thursday...usual recovery 6 months min to 1 year avg....I have talked to guys with labrum tears that took 2 years to full recovery...I also had some collar bone removed.

I just had a MRI today for my shoulder. I couldn't move my arm for 3 days then the swelling went down and the pain started going away. The arm is weak and the orthopedic surgeon thinks I tore a rotator cuff. Going to see him in a week for the results.

 I really hope I don't need an operation. Last time I had a complete bicep rupture where the bicep rolled up to a ball at my shoulder. After the operation it took 6 months for me to get my full strength back. I know some partial tear guys have a much shorter recovery time.

My advice is if you need an operation see an orthopedic surgeon who just operates in one area.  The practice I go to has  a hip ortho guy. A foot orthopedic guy.  A knee ortho guy and a couple of shoulder/arm guys. To many orthopedic surgeons claim they can do everything. You want a guy who is an expert in shoulders only not a jack of all trades.
