Be on the look out for less than good decisions on his part...Anything from harming himself, drug binges, to taking money (either from his own accounts or insurance payouts) and just flushing it away in a fit of grief.
A guy I knew lost his step daughter and his wife in a 6 month interval. I warned him to go slow in what to do next, to use the insurance payouts to finance his son's college education. He quit his job in computer cartography...and went to Amsterdam...rented an apartment that cost 175 dollars a day... and over a course of three months blew every nickel he had.
His son now is having a hell of a time financing his education...
