Is it cheaper to leave my lights on?

I heard that it costs more to turn your lights on and off than to just leave them on.  Obviously not all day and night but for like a few hours.

are you taking about the fact that cfl bulbs wear out faster when you turn them off and on?

Thats stupid, just cover it with a cloth, that way it goes out, it only comes back on when you remove the cloth.

Don't listen to experts, environmentalist, scientists or politicians, they will make you fearfull and have panic attacks over petty things. Just have the lights the way you feel like and feel comfortable with. That  you feel safe and content with, a nice safe feeling is what you want to shoot for. No man. Big appliance draw a high amp load. Using extension cords that are not the proper gauge size can lead to fire via overheating, catching on fire etc...

Fridge should come with it's own cord which is plunged straight into the wall outlet.

is this relevant in 220v network
