Fear of god is the beginning of wisdom.
Fear of something imaginary that you cannot measure, quantify, prove or even define isn't the beginning of wisdom. But it is a sure sign that you are either delusional or cope by making shit up.
Religion is very important for societies to stay coherent and strong.
Can you offer any, you know... evidence? Or are you just making unsupported assertions?
I predict renaissance for religion; it's already visible in some places!
Yeah and the progress we are getting as a result of this "renaissance" is simply amazing. Why just look at the progress we've made!
Religious beliefs prohibit people from taking advantage of birth control measures. Instead, couples are hostage to menstrual cycles and have to play "pull-out".
Religious beliefs prohibit terminally-ill people from taking control of their life. Instead, they are forced to endure long, drawn-out and painful deaths.
I could go on, but I think the point is made. Progress for religion means regress for us. What can you expect though from a mentality that advocates that the here and now is, by and large meaningless, and that we ought to not live our lives now, but strive for death.
Living in sin is not sustainable.
Isn't circular reasoning awesome? Tell us, what, exactly, is sin? How can I know if an act is sinful or not? How did you come upon this knowledge?
