I recently was at a wedding, where the girl's father started to ask people to bow their heads and ranted about God.  I couldn't help but look around and wonder how all these adults actually bought this shit?  Why are so many mindless and believe whatever was preached to them as a kid?
The more religious someone is, the nuttier they are.

How is that being a "bible thumper"? You don't like, don't do it. Simple. Come here just start stupid shit, like this and "steriod users"......THIS is mindless.

Who cares man? are they hurting anyone? why should you waste your energy worrying about what someone else is doing that doesnt affect you at all? thats a rough way to go through life.

No lie.  Just go through the motions like a good guest, don't say amen at the end, and let the bride and groom enjoy their day.  Too much shit going on at a wedding to worry about some jerk trying to stink up everybody's time by "bucking the system".  Oh brother. ::)

Fear of god is the beginning of wisdom.

Fear of something imaginary that you cannot measure, quantify, prove or even define isn't the beginning of wisdom. But it is a sure sign that you are either delusional or cope by making shit up.

Religion is very important for societies to stay coherent and strong.

Can you offer any, you know... evidence? Or are you just making unsupported assertions?

I predict renaissance for religion; it's already visible in some places!

Yeah and the progress we are getting as a result of this "renaissance" is simply amazing. Why just look at the progress we've made!

Religious beliefs prohibit people from taking advantage of birth control measures. Instead, couples are hostage to menstrual cycles and have to play "pull-out".

Religious beliefs prohibit terminally-ill people from taking control of their life. Instead, they are forced to endure long, drawn-out and painful deaths.

I could go on, but I think the point is made. Progress for religion means regress for us. What can you expect though from a mentality that advocates that the here and now is, by and large meaningless, and that we ought to not live our lives now, but strive for death.

Living in sin is not sustainable.

Isn't circular reasoning awesome? Tell us, what, exactly, is sin? How can I know if an act is sinful or not? How did you come upon this knowledge?
