To be fair-MMA is still a relatively new and still evolving sport.  I think for the most part the knowledgable fans on both sides of the ledger are done comparing the two.

All the talk of MMA taking over and shutting down boxing are over.  The "future" of combat sports was 5 years ago, right now this moment of 2013 MMA was supposed to be king.  As we all know it isn't.  Boxing is thriving and MMA continues to grow.

Like it or not both sports are here to stay-as long as MMA exists boxing will always exist if not only for this fact.  Boxing is the premiere "striking" sport.  MMA athletes will ALWAYS need to incorporate the art of boxing into their skill set.  And in a lot of ways MMA has helped boxing step up their game in terms of promoting and marketing.  Not only in this country but world wide.

I love both sports as well as wrestling(not all star) and am 100% grateful that w/ the rise of MMA a whole set of new opportunities have sprang up for some of the World's greatest athletes in collegiate wrestlers.

A healthy MMA(UFC) and boxing scene benefit everybody from fans to the athletes.  I say enjoy them both and don't deprive yourself of some really great fights.
