Its not up to the teacher to decide what the student should do to show their respect, would be another thing if the student goes "I'm not going to drink in front of you out of respect"

I used to have friends that were eating in front of me when I was fasting and would go "Sorry ACH, do you mind?" And I'd be like "of course not, eat and drink all you want" and that would be it.


Just like others may be respectful of someone who is Muslim, Muslims must always be respectful of those who choose to practice a different religion that doesn't require them to fast.

Yes I agree - its perfectly acceptable for a 10 year old to drink as he pleases in front of a fasting Muslim.


Hell, its perfectly acceptable for a 30 year old to drink as he pleases in front of a fasting Muslim.  Both have their own beliefs and both should be respectful towards the other choices and faiths.


The non-fasting one is not going up to the fasting one and pouring water down his throat, so why should the fasting one be depriving the non-fasting one of drinking.


As I said - when I still believed in the religion and participated in Ramadan it was a total NON-ISSUE whenever my western friends ate or drank around me....  So its just stupid that this is even a discussion.
