FRANKLIN TWP. — An appeals court has upheld the dismissal of a North Jersey science teacher for making inappropriate remarks about whites, blacks, Hispanics and Asians in class.

Officials in the Franklin Township school district in Somerset County removed Madhumita Chaki from her tenured job in 2011.

During a chemistry class in 2010, court documents indicate, she characterized blacks as lazy, and Asians as intellectually and economically superior. She also said whites could no longer afford to live in New Jersey and Spanish people were working class.

An administrative law judge recommended that Chaki, who is Asian, keep her job. But the appeals court sided with the acting state education commissioner to dismiss her.

Chaki’s lawyer said his client was discussing demographics to make a chemistry point and never intended for her comments to sound demeaning.

for the record i've met a shit load of lazy and bullshit asians in california.  when their numbers are concentrated, you get the same degeneration as any group.  when they make up a small %  of a sample group, they are excellent at hiding their ills.

"Never intended for her comments to sound demeaning", lol. She should've been fired, I can't believe a judge thought she should be able to stay.

I don't understand the current remedy of costing a person their job and source of income whenever there is an offensive statement. ......Yeah.... that's productive :-\.

Is there no other way of treating the situation? It happens everytime somebody/somegroup is offended. The offended group ends up calling for the person to resign. How does that fix anything? Just what everyone needs is another on unemployment. It's ridiculous and does not change anything.

The odd part is how satisified the offended party is when the person is fired as if it THAT was the victory and not a form of remediation and higher understanding.

BTW the words in the article are paraphrased and not her actual quote. I'm curious what she really said.

Why dismissed?

Sounded like she was a good teacher, teaching the students what's right and wrong in the world.

For the most part what she said was true.  By every standard of measurement, Asians are smarter on average and work harder
